Tipiliuke Lodge is one of Patagonia’s most celebrated fly-fishing destinations, offering refined accommodations, warm hospitality, and exclusive access to more than nine miles of the legendary Chimehuín River. Nestled at the base of the Andes near Junín de los Andes, this beautifully restored estancia sits on a 50,000-acre working ranch that has attracted discerning anglers and travelers for decades.
Guests at Tipiliuke enjoy a flawless blend of world-class dry fly fishing, luxurious comfort, and personalized service. In addition to the Chimehuín River’s iconic trout water, anglers can explore nearby spring creeks and other regional rivers, all while returning to gourmet cuisine, curated wine pairings, and an elegant yet relaxed lodge atmosphere. With non-angling activities such as horseback riding, hiking, birdwatching, and massage treatments, Tipiliuke is a favorite for couples and mixed-interest groups seeking the best of Patagonia, both on and off the water.
Tipiliuke Lodge offers the highest level of comfort and unsurpassed personalized attention, from beautifully presented meals to luxurious linens to warm hospitality.
Tipiliuke can accommodate a total of 18 guests in nine private double rooms with ensuite bathrooms, all well-appointed, with tasteful Patagonian décor. Guests seeking a more private experience can opt for a separate house near the Chimehuín River, ideal for families or small groups.
The main lodge is beautifully designed for comfort and style. The spacious common areas are equally impressive, with cozy lounges, a wood-paneled library, and indoor and outdoor fireside seating ideal for winding down after a rewarding day. The gardens are a big part of the Tipiliuke experience, with peaceful walks through the carefully planted botanical gardens and meals prepared from the lodge’s organically grown vegetables, herbs, and meats. Each lunch and dinner is thoughtfully paired with fine Argentine wines.
Tipiliuke’s dedication to personalized service is evident throughout the stay. From massage treatments, cooking classes, and yoga to horseback riding, golf, and hiking, non-anglers will find plenty to enjoy. The lodge staff are attentive yet unobtrusive, ensuring each guest feels genuinely welcomed and well cared for.
Tipiliuke Lodge offers exclusive, walk-and-wade access to nine miles of the Chimehuín River—one of the most iconic fly fishing rivers in Patagonia, Argentina. Flowing directly through Tipiliuke’s ranch, the Chimehuín provides a remarkable diversity of water types, from technical spring creek-like glides to freestone pocket water and undercut, willow-lined banks. Anglers can add even more variety by float fishing nearby sections of the Chimehuín River.
From December through April, dry fly fishing takes center stage thanks to consistent hatches and sight-fishing opportunities for both Brown and Rainbow Trout, which typically range from 14–18 inches. In the deeper pools, streamers are often the key to hooking larger fish. For those visiting in November or early December, Tipiliuke also offers access to the Quilquihue River—an intimate, spring creek-style tributary flowing through the property. Carefully managed beats ensure anglers enjoy fresh, lightly pressured water each day.
The Chimehuín River begins at Huechulafquen Lake, flows past Junín de los Andes, and joins the Collón Curá River. It has long held legendary status and is considered the river that first put Patagonia on the global fly fishing map. Even before Joe Brooks made it famous, the renowned Argentine angler Bebe was pulling massive Browns from these waters. In late fall, Brown Trout migrate from the lake into the river to spawn, and anglers gather near the boca in hopes of connecting with one of these migrating giants.
Weekly packages at Tipiliuke Lodge are recommended for particular groups and at certain times of the season. A customized itinerary combining Tipiliuke with another lodge may offer a more dynamic fishing experience.
