Suindá Lodge is one of the strongest options for trophy dorado fly fishing in Argentina, set on the clear-water Upper Paraná River in Corrientes near Itatí. This stretch of river—sandbars, rock gardens, and shoreline structure is home to some of the largest Golden Dorado in Argentina. It’s the kind of dorado fishing with both open flats fishing and close-quarters opportunities -see the setup, make a cast, and hang on when everything goes right. For anglers searching for the best trophy dorado fly fishing in Argentina, Suinda’s quality of quantity fishing should be the next challenge on your bucket list.
Dorado are the main event, with legitimate double-digit potential, but Suindá also has a fun multi-species angle. When conditions line up, you can mix in some dry fly fishing for pirá pitá and pacú -and take a run at Argentina’s warmwater fly fishing’s version of a “grand slam.”
The rhythm is ideal: two daily sessions (early and late), then back to the lodge for lunch, a swim, and downtime during the heat—plus comfortable, purpose-built accommodations and straightforward travel that makes genuine trophy Golden Dorado fishing less risky and easily accessible.
Suindá Lodge is the kind of lodge you’re delighted to come home to after a hot day of casting big flies. Guest rooms sit on stilts above the jungle floor with wide-open views over the Paraná, and amenities like the game room/wine cellar and plunge pool are designed to keep life comfortable between sessions.
Rooms are en-suite and air-conditioned, cleaned daily, and set up for anglers—think space to dry gear, reset leaders, and be ready to go again. Depending on how your group books, Suindá offers both king rooms and rooms with two queen beds, and single rooms are often possible when available. WiFi is available throughout the lodge, and laundry can be handled on request.
A short walk from the rooms is the main lodge: a warm, hardwood gathering space with a fully stocked bar, big dining table, fly-tying/lounge area, and an on-site fly shop/loaner gear setup—so if you forgot something (or burned through it), you’re covered.
The Upper Paraná at Suindá Lodge is all about structure and visibility—heavy runs over rock gardens, shallow sandbank zones, cutbanks, log-filled pockets, and edges where dorado hunt and ambush bait. When the water and light cooperate, it turns into a lot of “see it… lead it… strip fast” fishing, and the eats can be downright violent.
Most of the time you’re on big open water, making targeted casts with big streamers and topwater patterns for Dorado, stripping immediately when the fly lands and keeping it moving. Floating tropical lines cover a ton of situations, but it’s smart to bring a fast-sinking head for probing deeper rock and heavier structure when needed. These giant Golden Dorado can reach 30 pounds, expect 8–9 weights fly rods with strong drags, heavy leaders, 2/0 -3/0 hooks and wire bite tippet—their teeth are no joke.
Then there’s the bonus: when conditions line up—especially in summer—Pacú and Pira Pitá show up in the shallows and under fruiting trees, and suddenly you’re making lighter presentations (think 5–6 weights for Pira Pitá and 7 weights for Pacu) and getting real dry-fly shots on species most anglers never touch.
Suinda Lodge provides loaner high quality fly rods, reels and lines. Anglers are welcome to bring their own baitcasting or spinning rods and lures.
Suinda’s 7 night packages are best for serious trophy anglers while their shorter stays are best for anglers adding Suinda to other destinations in Chile or Argentina.
