Overview

SET’s Golden Dorado Combo is a one-of-a-kind angling journey through semi-tropical Corrientes, Argentina, giving fly and light tackle anglers access to multiple world-class Golden Dorado fisheries. This dynamic program combines comfort, mobility, and variety, allowing guests to fish two of three distinct fisheries, each with its own environment, tactics, and fish behavior. Whether you are poling jungle-lined creeks or drifting broad rivers, the experts at SET position anglers on the most productive water, regardless of conditions. Few Golden Dorado programs make it this convenient to fish two different fisheries in one week.
Across SET’s Dorado fisheries, anglers can experience either high-volume action for 5-8 pound Dorado, pristine waters with 5-15 pound Dorado or big waters with legitimate opportunities for 15-25 pound trophies. Designed for adventurous anglers, the SET’s program is ideal for those seeking variety, convenience, and a more complete Golden Dorado fly fishing experience.

Accommodations

SET’s Golden Dorado fly fishing lodge combo lets anglers choose which two of their three lodges they’d like to experience. Over the course of a 7-night / 6-day combo program, anglers fish two of SET’s three distinct fisheries, typically spending three or four nights at each destination. Depending on the itinerary, accommodations range from comfortable permanent lodges to well-appointed wilderness camps, all positioned close to prime fishing water.

La Alondra’i Lodge fishes the vast wetlands within the Iberá National Park. Guests typically divide their stay between the main lodge and one or more satellite camps positioned deeper within the marsh’s western boundary. This setup maximizes fishing time by placing anglers close to remote sectors of the wetlands. The camps consist of rustic cabins or raised tents on wooden platforms, each hosting a maximum of four anglers, with electricity and bathroom/shower facilities.

Jetu’u Lodge, set near the Ysoro Marsh / Paraná corridor, offers four double rooms, a large common area, and a swimming pool. It provides a comfortable base for exploring a diverse fishery of marshes, creeks, and nearby river systems.

Itatí Lodge, located on the upper Paraná River, features five double rooms, a spacious clubhouse and dining room, an outdoor patio, and a fire pit. Its setting on one of Argentina’s great Dorado rivers gives anglers comfortable access to big water known for both numbers and trophy potential.

Travel

With over 26 years organizing trips in exclusively Chile and Argentina, we make travel planning efficient and worry free. We’ll give you the domestic flights you need for your lodge dates and our travel team ensures your international flights connect smoothly. If preferred, we’ll even have our team in Buenos Aires meet you when you land.

  • After an easy overnight flight, anglers land on Friday morning at the Buenos Aires Ezeiza International Airport (EZE) and transfer 45 minutes to a hotel in the Recoleta neighborhood.
  • On Saturday morning, transfer 10 minutes to the Buenos Aires Jorge Newbery Domestic Airport (AEP) and fly 1.5 hours north to Corrientes (CQN) or Resistencia (RES).  Guides will greet anglers and transfer them 45 mins to 4 hours depending the lodge you choose.
  • Ground transfers between lodges midweek are 2-4 hours depending on the lodges you choose.
  • Anglers are dropped off at either airport for their flight back to Buenos Aires and home.

Our Take

  • We recommend anglers spend a night in Buenos Aires before the program begins and, when possible, fly in and out of Corrientes rather than Resistencia, which adds about 30 minutes to the transfer. Most drive times are about two hours, except Jetu’u Lodge, which is closer to four. Charter flights can still be arranged for lodge transition days if desired.
  • We especially like the option to choose two of the three destinations. Better yet, if conditions change prior to your arrival, we can recommend a lodge swap to help ensure you fish the most productive waters. It is rare to find this kind of diversity, flexibility, and convenience in one Golden Dorado itinerary.
  • The deluxe camps inside the Iberá Wetlands are a standout feature. While not mandatory, they provide quicker access to remote zones and a more immersive experience. For trophy hunters, Itatí is hard to beat. Jetu’u offers steady action and is an excellent choice for first-time dorado anglers or anyone wanting consistent action.
  • Not sure which lodge combination fits you best? Simply contact Fly Fishing Patagonia. We know the lodges and fisheries and will give you honest guidance on which two destinations are right for you—or whether another dorado program might better match your vision.
The marsh was incredible... the guides were fantastic and the food was awesome... I enjoyed my time and grateful that our group all caught dorado's and we were able to celebrate together.
