Paraná River Lodge delivers a true Argentina cast-and-blast—Golden Dorado fishing paired with high-volume dove hunting. The new lodge sits on the banks of the San Javier River Delta, on the eastern side of Argentina’s Middle Paraná system. This is right next door to where we, Fly Fishing Patagonia, outfitted Dorado and Dove Cast-and Blast trips for 15 years.
This is a highly flexible program where, each morning and afternoon, guests can mix dorado fishing and dove hunting however they like. Outings are planned around your preferences, the season, conditions, and your guide’s read on what’s best that day. No more changing lodges to enjoy a classic dove-and-dorado combo.
Paraná River Lodge is surrounded by grain fields and year-round roosting sites that hold millions of dove. Enjoy non-stop shooting that’s on par with Córdoba’s best dove hunting. When you’re tired and sore from shooting, take to the river in search of 7–15 lb Golden Dorado on the fly or lure. The San Javier River Delta is a dynamic labyrinth of creeks, channels, islands, and lagoons that provide ample structure to ambush Dorado and other native species.
The comfortable riverside Paraná River Lodge is one of six Argentina lodges owned and operated by veteran outfitters Roberto and Luciano Alba.
Paraná River Lodge is a convenient riverside base designed for anglers and dove hunters seeking quality sport and short drives to the fields/rivers. The lodge can host up to 18 guests in 10 comfortable rooms (single and double options), all with air conditioning, and private bathrooms. Upgrades for 2026 were done within the bedroom, wine cellar, fire pit and swimming pool.
Service is all-inclusive, with chef-prepared meals enjoyed in the expansive dinner and living room. Wind down with a fine Argentine Malbec by fire pit or cold beer in the pool. Electricity and Starlink internet run 24/7, so guests stay connected when needed.
Paraná River Lodge’s cast and blast program has no set schedule. Once there, guest can choose how much fishing and shooting they’d like to do and when.
-Golden Dorado Fishing
From the lodge’s private dock, anglers venture into the extensive labyrinth of the San Javier River delta and the mighty Middle Paraná River. This is very close to the waters we outfitted Golden Dorado for 15 years. Serious anglers should target the prime fishing months of September through April.
With one expert guide for every 2–3 anglers, you’ll explore the crystal-clear and intimate channels and creeks of the spectacular San Javier Delta. Parana River Lodge utilizes North Carolina skiffs equipped with 90 HP Yamaha engines, dual casting platforms and stealthy remote-controlled trolling motors. Using fly, spinning or bait casting rods, angler target prime spots for Golden Dorado like lagoon outlets and seams, aiming for surface takes.
We recommend 7/8 weight fast action fly rods with a variety of floating, intermediate, and sink-tip lines suited to cast large flies in tropical weather. Lighter 6 weight rods with floating lines are best for targeting smaller species like Pira Pita and Wolf Fish with dry flies.
-Dove Hunting
Parana River Lodge has secured exclusive rights on 5-6 large private farms with sunflowers, rice or milo and even several roosting areas. Even when conditions are not ideal in the region, the lodge has enough territories to provide year-round, high-volume dove hunting.
The shooting action includes straight on shots, crossing shots, difficult high-flying shots and everything in between. With the crop fields being only 15-45 minutes from the lodge, many guests opt to split the day between fishing and dove shooting. On half day shoots, even hunters in so-so shooting shape can go through around 500-600 shells using the lodges 20ga Beretta and Benelli shotguns. On full day dove hunt, hunters will feast on an asado lunch in the field complete with cold beverages, wines and a siesta in the shade.
These packages may be used for fishing-only, hunting-only, or Cast & Blast combinations. Guests may tailor each day exactly as they wish, mixing up the two sessions each day according to preference.
