Overview

Los Laureles Lodge delivers a high standard of service and access to a rich sporting resource on the Paraná River in Entre Ríos, Argentina. For more than 20 years, they have provided outstanding cast-and-blast adventures featuring high-volume dove hunting and Golden Dorado fishing.

The deluxe Los Laureles Lodge sits in the heart of their 4,000-acre private farm, which includes a massive 700-acre dove roost. Guests can reach the dove fields or the boat launch in 5 minutes or less. This is a high-adventure cast-and-blast trip where one can easily shoot 1,000+ shells in the morning, then spend the afternoon fishing for acrobatic Golden Dorado with either fly or conventional tackle on the Paraná River.  Shooters even have an excellent chance of enjoying a bonus decoyed pigeon shoot.

Los Laureles is a popular choice for private groups of 12 or more who reserve the entire lodge and enjoy significant savings.

Whether you come for the fishing, the shooting, or both, you will find exceptional sport, deluxe accommodations, and warm hospitality.

Accommodations

Built in 1994 specifically for sportsmen, Los Laureles Lodge sits beside the Paraná River in the heart of a 4,000-acre private farm. The lodge features 7 spacious double rooms and 3 single rooms, all with en-suite bathrooms. The expansive living room centers around a fireplace, while the dining room adjoins a wood-fired grill where guests can watch their steaks go straight from grill to plate. Additional amenities include air conditioning throughout, a Jacuzzi, bar area, WiFi, satellite TV, a gun room, and a swimming pool. Los Laureles may be the only lodge in Argentina with U.S.-style electrical outlets throughout. The kitchen prepares gourmet meals ranging from grilled meats, fresh salads, and desserts to a variety of exquisite game dishes. Surprisingly, the house wines are all Reserve varietals from the world-famous Salentein Winery.

The lodge also has a small farmhouse within walking distance of the main lodge, where families and small groups of friends can enjoy their own private quarters. Groups of 12 or more may reserve the entire lodge and enjoy significant savings.

For those who do not fish or shoot, Los Laureles can arrange horseback riding, boat excursions, sightseeing, cooking classes, or even a folklore or tango show after dinner.

The Fishing

Among Argentina’s cast-and-blast lodges, Los Laureles Lodge stands out for having some of the shortest drive times. Hunters can literally walk to several dove blinds, and drives to the dove fields average just 10 minutes. It is also one of the only Argentina dove lodges where the majority of the dove fields lie within its private 4,000-acre ranch, which includes a 700-acre dove roost.

Los Laureles also owns and manages an additional 10,000 acres nearby, which it uses to improve the odds of providing quality pigeon shooting and to support its winter mixed-bag program. Private land ownership means no competition with other outfitters and full control over management. Conditions here are ideal for sustaining an enormous dove population, with a protected roost, abundant trees, and a steady supply of water, soybeans, sunflowers, corn, sorghum, wheat, and alfalfa. The dove population is so prolific that hunters have real opportunities to shoot more than 2,000 shells per day.

The lodge features a beautiful gun room stocked with Benelli Montefeltro, Super 90, M1, and brand-new M2 shotguns, along with Beretta A391 semi-automatics and Silver Pigeon shotguns in 12, 20, and 28 gauge.

Both dove shooting and Golden Dorado fishing can easily fill a full day, but with travel times this short, many guests prefer to fish and shoot on the same day.

The lodge uses spacious Carolina Skiffs that allow two anglers to cast comfortably at the same time. Depending on conditions, anglers may fish the main Paraná River or run deep into smaller tributaries and backwaters, casting to shoreline structure along the banks. Golden Dorado average 6 to 7 pounds, and a strict catch-and-release policy is in place. Los Laureles can also provide fly, spinning, and conventional casting gear, as well as flies and lures.

Our Take

  • Los Laureles is one of very few Argentina lodges combining Dorado fishing with wing shooting and getting there is relatively easy.
  • Decoyed pigeon hunts are our personal favorite and nothing like any pigeon hunts in the States.
  • Between May 15 and August 15, Los Laureles operates a mixed-bag wing-shooting program for ducks, dove/pigeon, perdiz and Dorado fishing.
  • For convenience, Los Laureles has a private airstrip 20 mins from the lodge. We have resources for private charter fights that are more economical than those offered any of our partnering lodges.
I had several good hunts in Cordoba before discovering my favorite place which is Los Laureles Lodge. The hospitality, food and accommodations are first class and the doves are nonstop. There is a huge roost 5 minutes from the lodge and birds are flying all over the ranch. The staff and bird boys are full time employees so this ensures consistent high-quality service. A big bonus is the Golden Dorado fishing only 10 minutes from the lodge. We also had a great afternoon of pigeon shooting one day this year.
