Overview

This epic adventure combines hiking Chile’s world-famous national park with fly fishing for big Browns and Book Trout on private estancias in both Chile and Argentina. This trip is perfect for couples or a small group of friends and is highly customizable- trout fishing, hiking or sightseeing as much as you like. Depending on preferences and availability, you’ll start and finish in either Chile or Argentina.

Southern Chile’s Torres del Paine National Park is a mecca for hikers/horseback riders/nature lovers of all ages and ability levels. Stunning images of its granite towers and azure lakes are published everywhere. But what’s less known, are the practically untouched trout streams flowing just outside the park. From the Simple Patagonia Hotel or a private estancia outside the parks south entrance you can hike, horseback ride, tour the park and trout fish in as little as 4 night/3 days. Less than that feels quite rushed.

If you start in Chile like in the below sample itinerary, you’d enjoy Chile and then get transferred across the border to meet the team from Estancia Rio Pelke, a remote ranch in the province of Santa Cruz, Argentina. Río Pelke is an intimate, family run destination with incredible small stream fishing where trophy Brook Trout take big dry flies. A talented team of famous Argentine guides offers full or half week programs, hosting guests in their newly constructed 4 rod lodge and wilderness eco-camp.

Get a mixture of culture, sport and the spectacular national parks of Chile and Argentina. This is one of the most dynamic combinations possible in Patagonia. And you don’t even need to bring your fishing gear.

Exceeding expectations - well above a 10! We had the best time in Torres with our guide Victor, and Claudio even came by our first day to say hello and introduce himself. Victor was not only an excellent fishing instructor, but he had vast knowledge of the area and the park - and a great cook! It is windy, not too cold, and the sun has been out, the views are gorgeous, and people are incredible! Excited to continue our adventure in Argentina tomorrow! Thank you for everything!!
