Argentina offers two of the greatest sporting experiences in the world — fly fishing for wild trout in Patagonia and high-volume dove shooting — and combining them into a single trip is something we have been doing for our clients since 2005. An iconic Argentine dove shoot and world-class Patagonia trout fishing make for one of the most rewarding Cast & Blast adventures available — and with just one international flight needed, doing both simply makes sense.
The challenge is not finding a trout lodge or a dove lodge — there are over 100 to choose from across Chile and Argentina. The challenge is finding the right pair that matches your style, budget, and travel dates, and that makes logistical sense together. We narrow the field, match the lodges to your vision, and build an itinerary that flows seamlessly from one experience to the next.
For groups of 4–12, Fly Fishing Patagonia herds the cats for you. We’ll gather everyone’s preferences and deliver an itinerary built around your group, not a template.
THE LODGES
Patagonia trout lodges in Chile and Argentina range from classic Montana-style fishing lodges to Patagonian working estancias to fully outfitted glamping operations right on the river. Some fish exclusively private water; others blend private access with some of Patagonia’s finest public rivers. Dove lodges are equally varied — modern colonial architecture, historic Argentine estancias, and high-end purpose-built shooting lodges — each with its own character, regional flavor, and field conditions.
What they share is a commitment to quality. Expect bilingual staff, fine cuisine, excellent Argentine wines, and traditional asados featuring various cuts of locally sourced grilled meats. All lodges provide high-quality equipment — trout lodges supply rods, reels, waders, and flies, while dove lodges provide shotguns and shells — so there’s no need to travel with your own. We only work with lodges that deliver a genuine Argentine experience — warm, unhurried, and built around exceptional sport.
TROUT FISHING & DOVE SHOOTING
Patagonia’s trout fisheries are among the most diverse and visually stunning in the world. Fed by snowmelt and filtered through a chain of pristine mountain lakes, the rivers run clear and cold — ideal habitat for wild rainbow and brown trout that average 16 to 20 inches with genuine trophy potential on many waters. Anglers fish from drift boats, wade streams, and stalk spring creeks — dry flies, streamers, and nymphs all in play depending on conditions. The season runs October through May, with December through April being the sweet spot for most visiting anglers.
Argentina’s dove shooting is widely considered the finest in the world, with populations so abundant that daily limits are uncapped. Fields vary by region — sunflowers, sorghum, flat plains, rolling hills — and shooting typically ranges from several hundred to over a thousand rounds per day depending on the lodge. All regions — Córdoba, Entre Ríos, Santa Fe, and Tucumán — deliver high-volume shooting, but each has its own character and bird populations. Some also offer decoyed pigeons shoots.

Quick Word On Logistics
Combining trout and dove requires 2 round-trip flights and likely overnighting in Buenos Aires, Argentina at some point. We’ll identify all flights and simplify logistics and handle the sequencing so nothing gets left to chance.
